Cross country state finishers deserved front page

I was very disappointed to see that the results of the two state qualifying cross country athletes did not make the front page of the sports section. We had an eighth placed runner in the state, and this is second page sports news? As sports fanatics, we moved to Waunakee 17 years ago because we were impressed with all the of the extracurricular offerings and support this community gives to its youth.

I would like to applaud Hoopes and Bertz for representing our village at the state tourney! The countless miles and hard work paid off, as they will continue to do so. Certainly worthy of front page news in their hometown! As a side note – from a family of 7 kids that participated in football, wrestling, basketball, gymnastics, baseball, softball, cross country and track – the only sport that remains in adulthood for all of us is running. Congratulations, again, young ladies! Very proud of you both and the entire cross country teams!
