Pickup, grain truck collide near Deerfield

The crash occurred about 4:40 p.m. Thursday at State Highway 73 and Shaul Road

An injury accident involving a pickup and a grain truck shut down State Highway 73 south of Deerfield for a time Thursday night, Nov. 18.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred about 4:40 p.m. at State Highway 73 and Shaul Road.

The Sheriff’s Office said the 25-year-old driver of the pickup truck had been eastbound on U.S. Highway 12-18 and had taken the State Highway 73 exit. As the pickup turned northward from the exit ramp onto State Highway 73, its driver turned in front of and collided with a grain truck that was southbound on State Highway 73.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. There were also two passengers in the pickup, one of whom was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.

The 71-year-old driver of the grain truck was not injured.
