Dane County’s proposed new zoning code, which applies to most town land in Dane County (a few towns have opted out out of county zoning and adopted their own zoning codes) uses the following new zoning categories:

• Natural Resource Conservation District (NR-C)

• Recreational District (RE)

• Small-Acre Farmland Preservation (FP-1)

• General Farmland Preservation (FP-35)

• Farmland Preservation-Business (FP-B)

• Rural Mixed-Use — 8 to 16 acres (RM-8)

• Rural Mixed-Use — 16 to 35 acres (RM-16)

• Agriculture Transitional (AT-35)

• Agriculture Transitional — Business (AT-B)

• Rural Residential — 1 to 2 acres (RR-1)

• Rural Residential — 2 to 4 acres (RR-2)

• Rural Residential — 4 to 8 acres (RR-4)

• Rural Residential — 8 to 16 acres (RR-8)

• Single-Family Residential — 1 to 2 acres (SFR-1)

• Single-Family Residential — 2 to 4 acres v (SFR-2)

• Two-Family Residential (TFR-08)

• Multi-Family Residential (MFR-08)

• Hamlet Residential (HAM-R)

• Hamlet Mixed Use (HAM-M)
