Midwest Fire Fest returned this year after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees enjoyed music, vendors, food and the chance to try their hand at being a black smith.

At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the furnace reached 1,869 degrees. The big reveal of the statue will be at 9 p.m. tonight. Previously, the festival has revealed a 10-foot dragon., kooky smirks, serious faces and Max and his monster from Where the Wild Things Are.
