The Dane County Medical Examiner has released the names of four individuals killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate on the evening of January 6. The release from the medical examiner’s office said the crash occurred at mile marker 124.4 in the Town of Vienna. The release said the crash was reported at 10:13 p.m.

The individuals were identified as: Ryan L. Murch, 39, Wisconsin Dells, Shawn D. Thurston. 26, Wisconsin Dells, Alexis D Hudson, 36, Lyndon Station, and David R Celmer, 18, Lyndon Station.

All four individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. A forensic examination was completed at the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on January 8. Preliminary results of the examinations confirm that all four individuals died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Additional testing is underway. The deaths under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash involved four fatalities. The Wisconsin State Patrol was notified of a three-vehicle crash on I-39/90/94 southbound at Mile Post 124. Preliminary information indicates a Honda Civic was disabled on the right shoulder and a van arrived to assist. The van pulled into traffic and was struck by two semi units. The crash resulted in the fatality of all four occupants in the van. There were no injuries to the drivers of the semi units.

Due to the crash investigation, I-39/90/94 southbound was closed at Highway 60 for approximately three hours. Assisting at the scene and with the Interstate closure was De Forest Fire, De Forest EMS, De Forest Police, Dane County Sheriff, Dane County Medical Examiner, Columbia County Sheriff, and Columbia County Highways.
