The trial of Chandler M. Halderson will be delayed until at least Jan. 18 as he has tested positive for Covid-19. Madison news outlets have confirmed the delay. They are reporting a meeting this week will address the situation, but no mistrial is expected. The case will be delayed until he is cleared.

Jails and prisons have been prime locations for outbreaks, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department released a statement on Monday adressing the overall situation. It reads: “As COVID-19 cases rise in the community, the same is true for the population of the Dane County Jail. COVID positive cases have been increasing in the jail over the past few weeks, and as of today, there are 54 positive cases among residents of the jail. This is down significantly from last week when there was approximately 90 cases.
