The DeForest Times-Tribune welcomed managing editor Hannah Rajnicek to its staff on July 13.
Before coming to the Times-Tribune, Rajnicek served as the reporter at the Lodi Enterprise/Poynette Press, where she covered a wide range of topics, including local government, sports, events and two school districts.
Rajnicek grew up in Vernon, Wis., before heading off to Chicago to pursue her journalism degree at Columbia College Chicago. She spent many days in college reporting on city government, protests, environmental issues and politics.
After “too much time in the big city,” Rajnicek returned home to her dear Wisconsin and interned at WISN 12 News, a television station in Milwaukee. She worked with the night-side reporters and frequently traveled with them to active crime scenes, neighborhood events and on the hunt for the elusive Milwaukee lion.
Despite the interesting experiences she had at WISN, Rajnicek remained fixed on her lifelong goal to be a writer.
Rajnicek looks forward to getting to know the DeForest/Windsor area and encourages readers to reach out to her with story ideas.
When she’s not on the job, Rajnicek enjoys hiking, painting, cardio kickboxing, yoga and spoiling her rambunctious cat, Winnie. In her free time, she also works a few hours each week on an organic CSA vegetable farm near her home and often retreats to her family’s cabin in the Northwoods.
Reach out to Rajnicek at firstname.lastname@example.org, (608) 467-1557 or stop by the DeForest Times-Tribune office at 6616 Lake Rd., Windsor.
