Trail completion
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Preston Cole cut the ribbon on the North Mendota Tail section connecting segments of the trail at Gov. Nelson State Park on Hwy. M.
The nearly half-mile of new trail completes a 4-mile segment. Future phases will connect the trail to Mendota County Park and the City of Middleton, according to a press release from Dane County's Land and Water Resources department.
The trail offers a safer, off-road path for bicyclists, connecting the Middleton and Westport areas. Dane County supervisors for the area also celebrated with DNR staff. The trail adds safety and provides more recreational opportunities for the area, helping to support the local economy, as Cole pointed out.
Parisi and Cole thanked local government officials from Waunakee, Westport and Middleton for their partnership on the project.
