Work has started on the new parking lot at the Sandy Beach boat launch by Forest Construction of Lake Mills. Workers are seen at the site Wednesday, April 7. The launch is being moved to the west side of the beach. It currently sits in the center. Work is also being done on the new volleyball courts. The launch is projected to be done by Memorial Day weekend. The project was approved in 2019. The first phase of the redevelopment plan is the construction of the two-lane boat launch. The proposed boat launch is funded in part by a United States Fish and Wildlife Services Grant. The project area funded by the grant is subject to review under the National Historic Preservation Act. Commonwealth Heritage Group has conducted three archeological studies at the Sandy Beach site.
