Local "Turner and Hooch" Dog Breeder, 1989

Claire, left, and her father Pete Curley, right, are shown with one of his Dogue De Bordeaux in 1989. Curley sold four dogs to Touchstone Pictures in Hollywood, two of which, including Beasley, starred in the movie “Turner and Hooch.”  You may know him as “Hooch,” or you may even know him as “Beasley” if you’re one of the few individuals who actually stays to read the credits in a theatre after the movie is over. This animal has appeared on numerous television promos for the Touchstone Pictures movie “Turner and Hooch,” starring Tom Hanks. Pete Curley, owner of TNT Kennels, rural Merrimac, sold Beasley, the Dogue De Bordeaux that plays the role of a high spirited, often terrorizing, destructive and protective animal in the movie.
