New Piggly Wiggly store coming to Poynette

A ground breaking ceremony for the new D&D Piggly Wiggly Store was held at the construction site off U.S. Highway 51 on the north side of Poynette. The new store will open its doors by the end of 1997. It will be much larger than the current Poynette store with nearly 17,000 square feet of room. Duane and Debbie Westlie — the current owners of the D&D IGA store in Poynette and the D&D Piggly Wiggly store in Lodi — will operate the new store. Shown at the groundbreaking were, from left, Dave Bender (Prism Construction), Andy Ross (village trustee), Frank Welch (Schultz Sav-O Piggly Wiggly), Chad Peterson (Public Works Director), Duane Westlie (co-owner), Tegan Westlie, Debbie Westlie (co-owner), Tanya Westlie, Dave Tebo (Village Administrator), Bill Jacobson (Schultz Sav-O Piggly Wiggly), and Dave Klossner (Prism Construction).
