On Nov. 21 at 1:09 a.m., McFarland officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Siggelkow Road and Valley Drive for an equipment violation. Shortly after McFarland officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, the driver fled the traffic stop on foot.
A K-9 track for the driver was conducted that led officers to a residence in the 5100 block of Unity Way in Madison. The suspect was located at this residence and taken into custody without incident.
Officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and methamphetamine from the vehicle.
The driver, a 24-year-old Madison man, was booked into the Dane County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting/obstructing officers and a parole violation. It was determined that the driver was currently under parole supervision for the charge of felon in possession of a firearm.
The passenger, a 34-year-old Madison man, was booked into the Dane County Jail on the charge of possession of methamphetamine.
All charges will be reviewed by the Dane County District Attorney’s Office.
The McFarland Police Department was assisted during this incident by the Dane County Sherriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol, as well as officers and K-9 units from the Monona and Cottage Grove Police Departments.
