Running the Badger South conference meet at Lake Farm Park in Madison on Friday, the Red Hawk girls came away in fifth with 117 points while the boys took sixth with 135 points.
For the girls, Samantha Henry led in eighth place overall with a time of 20:22.6. Samantha Benson finished with 20:59.5 to take 15th place. Five runners finished within 15 seconds of each other — Lexi Slagle took 29th (21:56.5), Mara Talabac 33rd (22:02.6), Alayna Borgwardt 35th (22:07.3), while Darby Schabacker and Anneka Dorn both finished in 22:09.4 to take 36th and 37th respectively.
Allie Miller rounded out the Red Hawk runners with 24:10.0 for 58th.
The boys also had a sole top-10 finisher in Devin Woodcock, whose time of 17:18.6 earned him eighth place. Davis Turk finished in the top 30 in 25th with 18:06.6.
The rest of the Red Hawk boys — much like the girls — finished in a pack, with six runners within 12 seconds. Matthew Messer led the group in 34th with 18:29.3, followed by Brendan Harbrecht in 35th with 18:32.7. Trey Smith (18:35.3) took 38th, Travis Smith (18:38.5) took 42nd, Alex Pember (18:40.3) finished 45th, while Reider Snow (18:42.2) took 47th.
Three runners earned all-conference. Both Henry and Woodcock earned first-team honors, while Benson earned second-team.
The Red Hawks will compete at sectionals this Saturday in Kettle Moraine at Nagawaukee Park. The boys are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the girls starting after at 11:45 a.m.
