The Goodrich Square Steering Committee and the Milton East Parents' Group will host a free E-Waste Collection to benefit the Goodrich Square Splash Park on Oct. 6, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Piggly Wiggly, 727 S. Janesville St.
DP Electronic Recycling out of Elkhorn will be collecting all of the e-waste and disposing of the hazardous components of the items properly.
Milton City Administrator Jerry Schuetz said there will also be volunteers who will pick up items for people who don't have a way to transport them. The fundraiser will generate a penny for each pound of e-waste, with all funds going to the splash park.
Schuetz said fundraising for the splash park has reached the halfway point, hovering around $50,000.
Other upcoming fundraisers include the second annual "Dash for the Splash" run/walk and 5K, scheduled for Nov. 10. Details are still being finalized and will be released in the coming weeks.
Here is a list of items that will be accepted at the e-waste fundraiser:
Desktop computers, fax machines, copiers, washers and dryers, refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, cell phones, batteries, computer games, monitors and humidifiers.
Fluorescent bulbs will not be accepted. Questions about what might be accepted can be directed to DP Electronic Recycling at (262) 723-2550.
