Davis Turk battles to the finish against McFarland’s Ryan Stube at last week’s Koshkonong Klassic.

The Milton High cross country teams geared up for their upcoming Badger South Conference Meet with a pair of meets this past week.

The Red Hawks competed at the Koshkonong Klassic in Fort Atkinson on Thursday and the Baertschi Invite on Saturday in Albany.

The Badger South Meet is at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday in Stoughton.


Senior Noah Krueger (17 minutes 20 seconds) and junior Lauren Talabac (20:41) each took fifth place in the boys and girls race, respectively, last Thursday in Fort Atkinson.

Talabac’s finish helped the girls place third out of five teams with 82 points. Fort Atkinson (39) and McFarland (41) battled it out for the top two spots.

Also factoring into the girls team score was: Mady Moxley (16th, 22:37), Abby Burke (18th, 22:56), Allie Miller (21st, 23:13) and Lexi Slagle (22nd, 23:18). Other racers included: Gabriela Pumilia (39th, 25:28), Sydney Miller (41st, 25:46), Alex Rodenberg (51st, 26:36), Abbie Blitz (64th, 29:00), Elizabeth Patrick (67th, 30:10) and Shay Anderson (68th, 30:41).

Joining Krueger in the boys team score was: Davis Turk (12th, 18:07), Cameron Pumilia (16th, 18:23), Devin Woodcock (24th, 18:45) and Drew Jordahl (25th, 18:46).

In the large division standings on Saturday in Albany, the Red Hawk boys placed sixth out of 11 teams with 158 points, while the girls were eighth out of 10 teams. Monona Grove (21) won the boys race, while Oregon (58) won the girls race.

Krueger and Talabac again led their respective sides. Krueger finished in 15th place with a time of 17:56.4 and Talabac was 16th with a time of 21.47.6.

Also contributing to the boys score were: Turk (23rd, 18:31.2), Cameron Pumilia (35th, 19:00.9), Snow (37th, 19:03.1) and Woodcock (48th, 19:19.4). Stuckey (52nd, 19:24.9) and Baumann (73rd, 21:34.5) also raced.

Completing the girls team score with Talabac were: Burke (39th, 23:30.4), Moxley (42nd, 23:36.9), Slagle (45th, 23:48.5) and Miller (46th, 23:51.6). Gabriela Pumilia (61st, 25:45.1) also competed.
