Janice Lee Zwettler, 65, of Monona, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017.
She was born Oct. 19, 1951. Raised by her loving family, father, Louis Odegard, mother Evelyn (Gallagher) Odegard and siblings, Joyce, Judy and Dale, Janice led a beautiful life. She was united in marriage to John Zwettler on Aug. 3, 1974. Janice graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor of science in education degree. Janice chose to offer her talents and love of learning to elementary education, specializing in computer/tech education. For 35 years, she happily thrived in classrooms, set in corners of the Midwest, teaching in St. Paul, Minn., Middleton and Madison school districts.
Janice pursued a life of care and compassion. She ventured her time and hardworking heart to many organizations and charities in the Madison area and served as president for them (more than once), including St. Anne’s Society, Monona Jaycees, Pi Lambda Theta and Alpha Delta Kappa (teachers honor societies for excellence), Beta Sigma Phi (friendship/service) and Girl Scout leader. Janice, along with her delight and motivation in her community, loved to travel, and was a gifted artist and scrapbooker. She always appreciated a day spent shopping and antiquing.
Janice is survived by her husband, John; children, Stacey (Matt) Keller, Troy Zwettler and Ryan (Nicole) Zwettler; grandchildren, Spencer and Roman Keller; siblings, Judith (Karst) Vinje and Dale Odegard; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Otto; and brother-in-law, Wendel Otto.
