Demolition of Prairie Phoenix Academy
Demolition began Friday, March 3, 2023 on the former Prairie Phoenix Academy, also known as the former Sun Prairie Junior High, at 160 South St. The Sun Prairie Area School District pledged to raze the building and relocate PPA into the Central Heights Middle School building at 220 Kroncke Drive as part of the 2018 referendum that resulted in the construction of the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field, Sun Prairie West High School and the remodeling of the former Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School into the district's third middle school that became known as Central Heights.
The SPASD has not announced any plans for the former PPA site but that it has agreed to work with the City of Sun Prairie to develop the site.
