The Jefferson County Republican Party held its annual November Fundraiser Friday, Nov. 13 at Jansen's Banquet Hall, 1245 Whitewater Ave., Fort Atkinson. The event, which was open to the public and attended by about 40, featured keynote speaker Kevin Hermening, who was the youngest American held hostage for 444 days at the US Embassy in Iran between 1979 and 1981. Hermening is today a financial advisor from Mosinee, and serves as president on the Mosinee school district's board of eduction. He is a member of the executive committee of the Republican Party of Marathon County.
Other speakers included Kevin Nicholson, volunteer president and CEO of "No Better Friend," a Waukesha-based nonprofit organization working to bring new voices into the conservative movement, and state Sen. Steve Nass, who represent's Wisconsin's 11th District.
