Eight Sun Prairie West track events qualify for state meet

In its first year of existence, the Sun Prairie West track and field team will be well represented at the 2023 WIAA state finals meet. The Wolves made the most of their myriad qualified athletes at sectionals, hosted by Mukwonago High School on Thursday, May 25. Eight total events made the cut of “top three” in their respective categories, including six individuals and two relay teams.

The conversation clearly begins with junior Dakota Mitchell, who dominated the day with a trio of state qualifications. Individually, she earned a state berth in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She finished third in both, posting a time of 12.72 seconds in the 100 and 25.92 seconds in the 200 meter.
