A young boy was hospitalized with minor injuries after being struck by a car on his way to school in downtown Waterloo last week.

The incident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 5, at the intersection of East Madison and North Monroe streets, Waterloo Police Chief Denis Sorenson said. Waterloo police as well as fire and EMS services responded to the crash, and EMS transported the boy to a local hospital.
